Dr. Árpád Molnár

Árpád completed his legal studies at the Pázmány Péter Catholic University. During his university years, he was already interested in economic and financial law, therefore he went to work after finishing his studies to Baker&McKenzie Martonyi and Kajtár Law Firm, where he spent three years at the Finance Department and was involved in many project finance and capital markets transactions (2005-2007). From 2008 he spent as a lawyer more than five years at various different departments of the Hungarian Tax and Financial Control Administration, where he gained significant experience in the audit of private persons, companies and fight against tax fraud.

Simultaneously with his work, he studied economy at the Western Hungarian University, where he graduated in 2010. In his past two years at the tax authority he worked at the Directorate of Large Taxpayers International Audit Department, which was the Anti-Fraud Unit of the tax Hungarian authority and where the main profile was the fight against international VAT fraud.

Due to the multiple experience gained, he made various presentations about different taxation topics on conferences organized by the tax authority, published many times in journals and represented the Hungarian tax administration on several international conferences. If foreign delegations came to Hungary, he was several times the simultaneous translator for the top executive officers of the Hungarian tax authority.

After the years spent at the tax authority, he established Árpád Molnár Law Firm and became a cooperating partner of DLA Piper Horváth and Partners Law Firm. At DLA Piper he worked for the tax department where he was involved in many complex tax cases of multinational companies, including transfer pricing issues and requests for binding ruling. After DLA Piper he worked for a tax advisory firm in the city center, and since 2018 he is the head of Molnár and Márk Law Association.

Árpád has significant experience in several taxation fields, especially tax optimization, tax planning, representation in course of tax audits and economic criminal cases. He speaks English on an advanced level, and due to his experience at the above mentioned international law firms, he is excellent aware of the English legal terms both orally and in writing. German is his second mother tongue, as he lived for almost ten years in Austria.

His hobbies are reading books, winemaking, horseback riding and hunting.
